Success!

Meta Peace Team’s (MPT) First Annual “Move”-ment for Peace fundraiser is done! Whoop, Whoop!

The “Move”-ment for Peace was a month-long fundraising opportunity to support MPT’s work to focus on the power of creative nonviolence, and to “Move” us all toward a more just and peaceful society.
Our participants raised $6,685, unlocking our matching funds of $6,000, enabling us to surpass our fundraising goal of $10,000! What an amazing group of people!

We logged 76+ hours of “Move”-ment over the month, doing things like walking, playing bocce, juggling, riding horses, drawing, playing piano, rowing through rough seas, going to the US Open, participating on MPT Peace Teams, and many, many more interesting and creative ways of moving.   This event also opened everyone to doing some reflecting on ways we can all move toward a more just and peaceful society.

A lot of brilliant photos were taken during our “Move”-ment for Peace.  Just watch the slideshow at the left hand side of this page!

The awards committee is very excited to announce the following winners:

  • Best Photo – Kim Redigan for her courage to go into the Straights of Mackinac and under the Mackinac Bridge in rough water, in an INFLATABLE kayak! The photo of her is tremendous!

  • Most Creative Movement – Marianne Bernard for her utterly stupendous drawing!

It is absolutely beautiful!

  • Most Groovy Outfit – Zeharo (Z) and Shem for allowing their “parents” to dress them up and paint them all in the name of peace. Although, both Z and Shem have declined any MPT swag (they are afraid we will dress them up again!) they were good sports and truly support MPT.

  • Top Fundraiser – Peter Dougherty for his walk and juggle in the park, raising $1,780.85!

  • Biggest Team – Detroit Hub Club!! Way to go Detroit Hub! Great teamwork and participation!

Our winners will receive Meta Peace Team merchandise, a certificate and most importantly:  Bragging Rights!

We hope that you will join us in 2023 for our Second Annual “Move”-ment for Peace. It will begin August 21, 2023 and end on September 21, 2023 – the International Day of Peace!

Thank you to everyone for your participation and support.
Together, we can “Move” toward a peaceful future!
